33A 35A - Von Duprin
Von
Duprin redesigned the old 33 and 35 series a few years back.
The new series are called 33A and 35A.
The two series are identical except for the case. The 33A series
contains grooves or "ribs" in the case while the 35A series
is smooth.

Quick Tip
Check your glass door to make sure it has a metal frame at
least 2" wide.
Glass Doors
Working with glass doors is difficult and expensive.
There is precious little space available to mount any
hardware.
Some
exit devices are specially made for these "narrow stile"
doors. This is the case with the 33A and 35S series.
These devices are more expensive than standard devices as
all the working parts are crammed into a very small area.
The same is true with any outside trims used with the
devices. They too must mount in 2" space or less.
Remember that a metal frame holds the glass in place, so
some of the metal has glass behind it. When drilling
into the frame special care must be taken to keep from
drilling into the glass.
Comparing Series
The 33A and 35A are very similar to the 98 and 99 Von Duprin
devices.
