About - Visonic CL-8

Primarily used in outdoor applications, the CL-8 includes a gasket for weater resistant operation.

The CL-8 comes with many features only found in more expensive key pads. It may be used simply to unlock a door, or the CL-8 may also tie into Alarm Systems or any other Parent Security System.

The housing includes Anti-Tamper features that can sound an alarm if the faceplate is removed. It will also alarm if any attempt is made to remove the unit from the wall.

CL-8 Operations

The CL-8 is a stand-alone digital keypad for access control applications. This unit is weather-resistant (IP54) for outdoor / indoor use. It activates a built-in, high-powered relay and operates from a 12/24 V AC or DC power supply.

The CL-8 permits up to 56 individual access codes. Authorized users can control applications such as electrical locking, electrical switching and arming/disarming alarm systems. Unauthorized entry is prevented by a penalty timer that locks the keypad for 30 seconds after three consecutive invalid code entries.

A special request-to-exit (REX) input is inlcuded. Most often, REX signals are used with mag locks for a person exiting the door. Upon exiting, the person will press a button or a touch bar to signal an exit request. This signal runs through the keypad then unlocks the door (mag lock).

In addition to access control, the CL-8 can be integrated with an alarm system for enhanced security. The unit can arm or disarm an alarm system from the keypad.

An ''Ambush'' feature allows a person in distress to set off a silent alarm. This can be accomplished be selecting a specific code that initiates the panic alarm. A better method is available that does require users to remember a separate ''Ambush'' code. This is the addition of a specific digit that can be added to a user code to signal an ''Ambush''.

For example, if all users are assigned 4-digit codes, a 5th digit can be designated as the ''Ambush'' code. A user entering ''1-2-3-4'' could add ''9'' after the last digit to set off the silent alarm.

Tips from the Pros

The CL-8 is also known as the CL-8A.

cl8 features

This is a full featured keypad at a very affordable price. Because it is designed to be a stand-alone unit, all the programming is done at the keypad. It may be connected to other keypads and security systems as well.

The CL-8 works with electric strikes and mag locks equally well. It also has a built-in timer which is optional on more expensive models from other brands.

If 56 user codes is enough for your application, you'll be hard pressed to find a better value keypad.
