Example of a center hung pivot. The pivot point (spindle) is centered in the door.
All center hung pivot sets are Double Acting unless stopped by some meand on the frame.
Advantages of Pivot Sets: ¤ Full weight of door is borne by floor pivot, providing long pivot life and trouble-free operation. ¤ Screws are in shear in pivot set installations and are less likely to pull out as when in tension. ¤ Vertical adjustment provides for field adjustment of the door if required on most models. ¤ Pivots provide longer life and more trouble-free operation that other types of door hanging devices. Notes for Center Hung Pivot Sets: ¤ Intermediate pivots are not used with center hung pivot sets. ¤ Centered in thickness of door. ¤ Not recommended for door heights above 8'6''. ¤ Doors do not return to center. ¤ Door must be radiused on pivot edge.
