Like all other Rixson pivot sets, this model is designed for a door thickness of 1-3/4''.
If you have a narrower door you cannot use these commercial models, you must find a residential type pivot.
With a maximum door weight of 500 lbs. this set will suit most applications.
These sets sometimes get used in odd applications like a bookshelf or bookcase.
It can be done with special care, but it's not easy.
First, you have to calculate the overall weight of the unit after it is fully loaded with books.
Secondly, the pivot point will need to be moved from a ''standard'' position you'd find on a door,
to a position more towards the center of the unit.
Doing so allows you to ''balance'' the unit better on the pivots.
There are some web sites that show examples of these applications using the Rixson model 370.
