Overview
To understand Norton's Door Closer Arms, you must first understand the 3 mounting styles.
Regular and Top Jamb mounting are almost identical. They use the same arm.
The difference is Regular mounting is for installation on the Pull side of the door while Top Jamb is for the Push side.
You just flip the closer over for Top Jamb mounting.
Parallel mounting is for Push side mounting only, and requires the use of a special bracket.
The bracket is appropriately called a Parallel Arm Bracket.
Standard arms for these 3 mounting styles are Non-Handed.
Occasionally you will need a specialty arm. These are specifically made for one mounting style only and are often Handed.
The good news is that an arm from one model will normally fit another model.
Norton has done an excellent job of making their arms universal so they may be swapped across models.
This way, you only have to learn the arm designations once and you have it down for the whole line.
The exception is Norton's 78 Series Pot Belly closers. These are unique and arms for this model cannot be swapped with others.
