Tips From The Pros |
Door cords transfer power just like an electric hinge. With an electric hinge, you cannot see where the wires run.
Everything is concealed. Door cords surface mount and it's easy to identify where the wires go.
It's up to you to decide which method works best for your applicstion.
If you do select a door cord as the way to go, follow the steps below to place your order.
First, determine if you have ''inswing'' or ''outswing'' mounting.
Stand on the side of the door the cord needs to mount.
If you push the door to open you have an outswing mount and require the longer, 18'' version of cord.
The inswing version uses a 12'' length.
Next, decide the diameter of conduit you will require. Most applications get buy with the 3/8'' diameter as they only require 2 wires.
Remember the inside diameter will be about 1/8'' less than the outside diameter and inside diameter should be your area of focus.
Lastly, decide if you want Locknetics to furnish the actual wire or if you want to furnish your own.
When ordered with wire, Locknetics will furnish 4/ea 20-gauge wires.

More Tips |
Don't get too hung up on diameter of cord or who is going to furnish the wires.
The smaller diameter cord works just fine in 99% of the application.
Only get the larger diameter if you're running more than 8 wires through the cord (very rare).
Instead, focus on the length of the cord as it is not easily adjustable in the field.
In fact, it shouldn't be messed with in the field at all.
If you get the inswing vs. outswing decision right, the rest of it will take care of itself.
