Locknetics 692 Touch Bar

from US Builder Supply

Overview

Locknetics 692 is an electric release switch designed for use with mag locks.

Touching the bar breaks a photo beam which sends a signal to the power supply and that causes the mag lock to release.

Locknetics 692 resembles an exit device but has no latch as an exit device does. Touching the bar sends a signal and that is why the 692 is actually considered a switch.

Features - Locknetics 692 Touch Bar

  • Automatic voltage detection (12 or 24 VDC)
  • Heavy duty aluminum extruded bar with cast end caps
  • Field reversible
  • ''Push To Exit'' signage designates opening
  • Bar is available in 628 Aluminum finish or 313 Dark Bronze finish

Length

The 692 comes in three lengths: 36'', 42'', 48''. It can be cut in the field, but only 5'' may be trimmed off.

For example, a 43'' door is too wide for a 42'' bar and you must order the next size up (48''). Cutting 5'' off the 48'' bar leaves you with 43''.

NOTE: The actual bar length is undersized. A 36'' bar is in reality a little shorter than 36''. So the lengths listed really refer to door size, not bar size.

Finish

Two finishes are available: 628 and 313.

Finishes

Signage

Three options available: RD, GID, BRG.

672 signage
RD = Red Letters (standard)

GID = Glow In Dark Letters (no additional charge)

BRG = Backlit Red to Green (upcharge)
NOTE: The BRG option is only stocked in 36 length. 42'' and 48'' have 2 week lead times to ship.

Letters are Red when a person approaches the door. When the bar is activated they turn green.

Tips from the Pros

Why use a touch bar in the first place?

Mag locks require a release to unlock the door. The lock doesn't know if you are inside or out, so a release mechanism must be provided on both sides of the door.

What if the 692 fails?

Some brands of Touch Bars come with a backup push button that is mounted to the wall. The push button can be activated should the bar fail. Locknetics brand Touch Bars do not come with this backup push button. You should order a push button to be safe. Note that some city codes require this backup.

What's the difference between 672 and 692 Smart bar?

The 672 is mechanical and requires pushing the bar in to activate. The 692 uses an infrared beam. When someone touches the bar they break the beam, activating the device.

What are my switch options?

The 692 comes standard with a DPDT switch. This basically means it uses two sets of wires. Having a second set of wires means one set goes to the power supply and the other to a secondary unit such as an alarm system.
