The infrared motion detector allows for free egress from inside the room. The door will automatically unlock as a person approaches the door.
The backup pushbutton included with the 390PIR is nothing more than a safety device to be used should the motion detector fail.
A user can simply push the button to unlock the door from the inside. Although this would only be used in the rare case of a detector failure, it's very important to have a backup.
You don't want to trap people inside a room.
Internal contacts allow for the wiring of the fire alarm system directly into the 390PIR.
Should the fire alarm sound, a signal is sent to the unit which unlocks the door. The door will remain unlocked until the fire alarm is manually reset.
The idea here is you want to allow emergency personnel (firemen, police) to have access to the building in case of emergency.
During installation you can set the iternal siren to sound when the fire alarm system goes off.
You can also make several other adjustments such as motion detector range.
