Hinges - Hager
Most people don't know that Hager makes much more than standard commercial hinges. They make residential, spring and continuous hinges as well as special application hinges like swing-clear and electric hinges.
Commercial hinges are available in Plain Bearing or Ball Bearing types. The model numbers are the same except ball bearing hinges include "BB" before the model number.
1279 models are made from steel, while 1199 models are made from brass. There are instances where brass-based hinges are desireable as the finish is a higher quality than that with steel. But the higher price of brass hinges makes these instances rare. One other commercial model is 1168, which is a heavier duty hinge designed for high traffic doors or those that weigh more than standard doors. 1168 models are almost always sold as ball bearing hinges, BB1168. These hinges are thicker than the other models are are known as "heavy weight" hinges. 1279 and 1199 are called "standard weight" hinges.
