Overhead Holders and Stops

These products are very difficult to order.

You must know the following information before placing an order:

• Should model be surface mount or concealed
• Is door using pivots or hinges
• Door width
• Stop only or stop + hold open
• Door and frame conditions

Surface Mount or Concealed

Surface Mount Series

• 70 Series - Heavy Duty
• 79 Series - Same as 70 but Extra Heavy Duty
• 81 Series - Lever arm style (shown)
• 450 Series - Track arm mounting style

Concealed Mount Series

• 90 Series - Track arm mounting style
• 100 Series - Heavy Duty lever arm
• 410 Series - Same as 100 but medium duty

Model Numbers

How to decode model numbers

No doubt, Glynn Johnson model numbers are tricky.  There are many options available which leads to most of the confusion.  Breaking down the numbers into their component parts makes life easier.

The 100 series (shown) is used in the examples below.

• model 101 - doors 18-23'' wide
• model 102 - doors 23-27'' wide
• model 103 - doors 27-33'' wide
• model 104 - doors 33-39''' wide
• model 105 - doors 39-45'' wide
• model 106 - doors 45-51'' wide

The type of unit is then added to the model number by indicating either ''S'' or ''H''. Using ''S'' indicates a stop only while ''H'' means stop + hold open.  For example a 104S would indicate a stop only.

If you need the hold open feature things get even trickier.  There are several types of hold open available.  "H" means standard hold open, "HP" means integral stop type hold open and "F" means friction type hold open.

If that's not bad enough, there are subcategories among these hold open types.  This is where it is best to view the data sheets, but as a general rule use and "ADJ" type hold open.  "ADJ" stands for adjustable, which means you have more flexibility during the installation process.  If your doors and frames are factory prepped than any type hold open is fine.  But if your doing a retrofit application, look for the "ADJ" designation.  It will make your life a lot easier.
