HL - Glynn Johnson

Glynn Johnson's HL Series is designed for flexibility in the field. Options are available for several backset sizes, strike sizes and mounting positions.

The body of the lock can be mounted horizontally or vertically. No special ordering options need to be specified, this is standard.

The levers can also mount in several positions, either towards the hinge or away from the hinge. You select the mounting options in the field.

• HL6 = Passage Function
• HL7 = Privacy Function
• Mortise lock versions also available (HL6-9000)
• Standard backset or 5'' backset (plus other sizes as well)
• Order 2-3/4'' strike (standard) or ASA 4-7/8'' strike by adding ''A'' to the model
• Non-handed
• UL Listed
• 1-year warranty

The first thing to understand is that hospital latches are expensive. They are designed to take a lot of abuse and still hold up for many years.

Glynn Johnson hospital latches are unique in design in that they provide users with built-in flexibility. The lock can mount horizontally or vertically and the levers can point towards the lock or away from the lock.

Different hospitals have different requirements and the HL6 series is built to adapt to these requirements. Backset options include:

• 2-3/4'' (noted by 2)
• 3-3/4'' (noted by 3)
• 5'' (noted by 5)
• 7'' (noted by 7)

Some example model numbers:

• HL6-26D-2 (satin chrome finish, 2-3/4'' backset, standard ''T'' strike)
• HL6-26D-5 (satin chrome finish, 5'' backset, standard ''T'' strike)
• HL6-26D-2-A (satin chrome finish, 2-3/4'' backset, 4-7/8'' ASA strike)
• HL6-26D-5-A (satin chrome finish, 5'' backset, 4-7/8'' ASA strike)

Only 4 or 5 companies even make hospital latches and it's a good idea to shop around and compare models. None offer the flexibility of Glynn Johnson's HL Series, but flexibility may not be what you're looking for.

If you're just shopping for lowest price then make sure you buy a good quality model. You typically get what you pay for in these types of locks. Make sure you order a model that will last for many years because even lower priced models are very expensive.
