Overview

Designed to be a self-contained, all-in-one unit, the Glynn Johnson 280 Sensaguard allows fire doors to be held open and still meet fire codes.

The battery-operated 280 is wired to existing fire alarm system. Should the system sound, the wires signal the 280 and the hold open is released.

The 280 Sensaguard is designed to be used in conjunction with a door closer (not furnished). Once the holder releases, the door closer will close the door.

Tips From The Pros

Pay attention to the battery. You will want to keep a couple of backups handy. To replace battery, use a 9V Alkaline Eveready Energizer ® #522 battery or Duracell® #MN1604. Do not substitute.

This unit is completely self-contained, so there is only one product option to worry about when ordering. The 280 is available in either aluminum or dark bronze finish.

When planning to use the 280 Sensaguard, make sure to plan your door closer first. The 280 will mount to the opposite side as the closer and can mount either push or pull side. Since the 280 is flexible, concentrate on the closer. It may not be as flexible as the 280.

Installation is very esay with the 280 Sensaguard if you follow the instructions closely. It has a variable hold open position and the instructions detail the adjustments very well. It is important to realize this is not an item you can just ballpark and call it good. Read and follow the instructions.

The unit is designed to hold a door open. If the door needs to be closed it is simply a matter of pulling on the door. This will release the hold open allowing the closer to take over and close the door. If you need to hold the door open again, just open the door to it's full opening degree and it will lock into place.

The model door closer you select is important and it is a good idea to get one that is universal. That means that it is non-handed and can mount on either side of the door.
