Glynn Johnson designed the 100 Series to be installed on doors opening between 85 and 110 degrees.
It is available as a stop only (S), stop with hold open (H), stop with internal hold open(HP), or stop with friction hold open (F).
The H version has a control knob used to turn the hold open function on and off.
The HP version conceals the hold open control inside the unit, making door prep much easier.
Both the H and HP versions allow for one setting of the hold open position.
Once set, the door always holds open in that same position.
The F version, Friction Hold Open, allows for mulit-point hold open positions.
This means you can open the door to any position and let go and the door will hold in place.
To order, determine your door width (see listing below). Next, decide if you need stop only or one of the hold open options.
The Glynn Johnson 100 Series overhead stops are sized.
This means different models are used with different door widths.
- 18-23'' - models 101S, 101H, 101HP, 101F
- 23-27'' - models 102S, 102H, 102HP, 102F
- 27-33'' - models 103S, 103H, 103HP, 103F
- 33-39'' - models 104S, 104H, 104HP, 104F
- 39-45'' - models 105S, 105H, 105HP, 105F
- 45-51'' - models 106S, 106H, 106HP, 106F
To complicate matters further, the above sizes are for standard hinges and pivots with an offset design.
Should you be using center hung pivots, the chart changes. See the manufacturer's brochure for the center hung chart.

The last area of concern is the mounting. Both the door and the frame should be reinforced where the unit mounts.
With metal doors and frames, a 1/4'' steel plate is welded to the backside.
This area must be drilled and tapped for the mounting bolts.
