Trilogy Locks There's a lot of confusion out there about Trilogy locks, but knowing a few tips makes them easy to understand. ''T1'' Trilogy locks are the most basic and allow entry by keypad code or by key. These locks are manually programmed at the keypad and have no other special features. ''T2'' Trilogy locks have many more features, including the ability to program each lock using software. The software allows you to program various user levels such as Master, Manager and User. The software is Windows compatible. The software also allows programming of timed events. An example would include unlocking during business hours and locking during non-business hours. Data is loaded into each lock via cable connection from either a laptop or a DTMIII, Alarm Lock Data Transfer Module.

Trilogy Software The Alarm Lock Company has developed a software system that is very flexible and suits most security systems. The software works with small, medium and large companies with each employee assigned an unique access code. The access codes are assigned using the software which creates a database to record all codes. Users are assinged both a code and an access level as they are entered into the database. Managers may be allowed access at times when regular users are not. Along with the software, a special cable is supplied. This two-pronged cable plugs into the lock to transfer data. One version of the software comes with a Serial type cable. The other version of software is furnished with a USB cable.

Transferring Data Once you've entered all your user codes into the software, you are ready to transfer the data to the lock. You have two methods available to you for transferring the data. The first choice is to use a laptop computer if you have installed the software onto a laptop. You carry the laptop from lock to lock, uploading the user code data to each lock. The second method employs a Data Transfer Module. This is a small, hand-held device that is easy to carry around. You first load the data from your laptop or PC to the DTM. Next, take the DTM from lock to lock to upload the data.

How It All Works It is up to you to know the requirements of your security system. You would find it suprising how many people don't know what they need. Once you know your requirements, you can begin to sort out the choices to purchase hardware. Based upon the number of user codes you'll need, you can determine which lock models support that number of codes. Next, determine the methods of entry you would like to use. Key, keypad, key fobs, HID cards, etc. Now you can see which lock models support each of the entry types you want to use. By process of elimination, you've narrowed your choices down to a model or two. Count the number of door needing access control and you've finished the hard part. Setting up the user codes and transferring data is the easy part. The Alarm Lock System is very easy to use. Once you determine what you want, the rest is pretty easy.
