Access Control Diagram - Single Door

Simple Single Door Access Control

diagram for single door access control
Applications: Office doors, light traffic control.

Components
1 Magnetic Lock
Easy to install with your existing lock, mag locks allow effective electronic access control for a low cost.

2 Power Supply
Reduces power from 115V down to 12VDC or 24VDC to run the control devices.

Power supplies are available with many options, but this system only requires a basic system.

3 Input Device
These devices control user access by requiring the user to have ''special knowledge'' before gaining entry.

Example input devices:
Card Reader
Keypad
Key Switch

Operation:

A user must enter a code, swipe a card or use a key to gain access. Once the user provides the action to gain entry, a signal is sent to the power supply. This signal causes the power supply to cut power to the mag lock, allowing the door to be opened.

Notes:

1. All power supplies have options relays to interface with an emergency system. They can be wired to a fire alarm system, for example. Should the emergency system be triggered, the power supply will receive a signal that causes the controlled door to unlock. Check local codes to see if you require an interface module.

2. The most difficult part of installing the system will be running the wires.

3. If using a keypad, you must determine the number of unique users (codes) that will be required. Keypads are smart these days, and there is a keypad available for every application you may have. More sophisticatd keypads are obviously more expensive.
